Diwali 2017 Calendar list – mpanchang

Deepawali is popularly known as the festival of lights. It is a festival of India that is celebrated with loads of joy in every part of the country. Diwali celebrations commemorate the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after fourteen years Vanvas. Diwali is a five days festival dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi,  the goddess of prosperity, wealth and happiness. At Diwali, people clean their home, decorate them with rangoli in their aangan and light earthen lamps in the entire home.

Diwali 2017 is celebrated on poornima of sukla paksha in the vikram samwat hindu calendar month of ashwin. People worship goddess laxmi for prosperity and health and wealth. It is believed that goddess laxmi ji visit everyone home during Diwali and brings peace and prosperity to all. Lamps are lit in the evening to welcome the goddess. Lord Rama was a great king, the son of king Dashrath,returned Ayodhya along with his wife Sita and younger brother Laxman after victory of good over evil. He put an end to the demon Ravana of lanka. People welcomed them by lighting rows of clay lamps. Diwali is also celebrated as the beginning of the Hindu New Year. Diwali is one of the most important festival of Hindus. On this day, sweets are made at homes and distributed by everyone. People made suji naariyal laddoo, kalakand , Gulab Jamun, Rabdi and nariyal barfi or kheer rice pudding.

FIRST DAY  :-

First day is celebrated as Dhanteras 2017. People buy new utensils, jewellery and new vehicles at this day.  Dhanteras is also known as Dhanvantari Trayodashi. Dhanteras falls on the thirteenth day in the month of Kartik two days before Diwali. It is celebrated to seek blessings of goddess laxmi for wealth and prosperity. God Yama is also worshiped on this day. People purchase silver or gold coin or some other precious metal as a sign of good luck. This day has great significance in many parts of india. People considered Dhanteras , a very auspicious day and Muhrat. People do kuber pooja(the hindu god of riches) , ganesh pooja or laxmi pooja.

SECOND DAY:-

The second day is called Narak Chaturdashi (Kali Chaudus) or Choti Diwali. This is celebrated for the victory of lord Krishna over the demon king Narkasur. Also, on this day Hanumanji reached Ayodhya to deliver the long awaited message of Lord Rama’s return.

THIRD DAY:-

The third day of this festival of Diwali/Deepawali is the most important day of laxmi pooja along with lord ganesha. People lights candles and diyas at their home in India. Lord Vishnu is also worshiped by people for wealth and prosperity. Millions of crackers, fairy lights and sparkles light up or ignite up on this day. After the worship of god mahalaxmi in the evening with their families, people visit temples, churches and gurudwaras to light candles and diyas. People also exchanges sweets and Prasad. Children lit the crackers. People wishes Diwali to relatives and visit their houses.People wears new dresses on this day.

FOURTH DAY:-

The fourth day is celebrated in all over the world in various forms .this is also called Govardhan Pooja.this day is  also observed as Annakoot and prayers are offered in the temples.this day is also called Padwa or Varshpratipada. In Gujarat this day is celebrated with great pomp and show as bestu bars, New Year as per their calendar. In North India this day is widely celebrated as Vishwakarma day or Govardhan pooja. People worship their machinery, arms and instruments on this day.

FIFTH DAY:-

The fifth day of Diwali celebration is called as Bhai Dooj 2017, Bhai Fota (in Bangal). This is also called Bhai Tika/ Bhai Tilak/ Bhai Beej.  Bhaiya dooj is observed as a symbol of loves and affection between brothers and sisters. Brothers visit their sister’s home on this day and sisters prepares sweets especially in honor of their brothers, wishing a long happy, healthy life and great success for their brothers.
